A Sense of Place

Kin Kletso (Yellow House) Great House, Chaco Canyon  Contunuing our journey up the Chaco Wash, we finally are closely approaching the great house of Kin Kletso. From here we can see the Sourh Gap enterance to the center place of Chaco. Like Casa Chiquita, this great house was one of the last built in the canyon, The McElmo style architecure ahd tree ring dates suggest that Kin Kletso was constructed between 1125 and 1130 BCE).  This image was made frrom the trail on the cliffs behind Kin Kletso that leads to a narrow cleft in the rock to the top of the mesa. Before heading to the center of Chaco Canyon and the great houses of Pueblo Bonito and Chetro Ketl, we will journey to the top mesa the great houses and other features that lie on the great north road.
